Is it messy when you scratch it off is there a black residue?
Answer: There is a black residue after you scratch off the surface. I have my grandson work on a vinyl placemat. He taps off the residue on the mat when he is finished, and the mat is easily wiped off into the trash can. I don’t feel it is that big a deal for the fun my grandson has making pictures with these sheets. Hope that helps.
