Top Positive Review
This is the best deal on quality practice watercolor paper I have seen so far. The paper is good. Rough texture if you are into that. The spiral notebook style is nice too. Can be used like a journal if so desired. I love that there are 3 pads! The paper is double sided. The only downside is the preforated edge is a little hard to tear and it leaves a very noticeable edge. But for practice pieces, practice brush strokes, and swatches it??s great paper! Also if you just keep the pages in the pad, like a journal, that part doesn??t really matter. I will be getting a paper cutter to clean the perforated edge up. The paper is nice enough to do some small pieces on for gifts or hanging on your wall. For reference on the type of paper I like to use, 100% cotton cold press watercolor blocks; Legion Stonehenge, Fluid, and Blick. Meeden is also good, sold on Amazon.
Top Critical Review
This is really good paper for watercolor. It absorbs well and does not wrinkle??a big plus!! The only con is that the one side of the paper seems to be smoother than the other side and I mistakenly used the wrong side for my project. It worked well, but wanted a different texture, so this was my bad and should have checked. I would buy these again and I consider it a good value and equally good product. Update 1/1/22??pages are VERY DIFFICULT to remove from the book. The perforations are not adequate enough to provide a clean tear, and if you try a rip it out of the book – because the perforation issues- you ??dent?? or tear the paper ?? in the spot where you held on to while the other hand was tearing. I took one star away from my original review because of this issue.
Customer Questions & Answers
Can acrylic paint be used with this paper
Answer: I think so. I just tried and despite my paint being old and cheap I think the paper held up well. It??s just a little bent at first but when your book is closed it will flatten out.
Is it hot-pressed, cold-pressed?
Answer: It’s a cold-pressed paper
My daughter asked for “Brush Pens”. I ordered them but is this the right type of paper?
Answer: The brush pens should work just fine on this paper.
Is the paper 100% cotton?
Answer: No but it??s good thick quality paper and great for the price
