Top Positive Review
I bought this paper specifically for decoupage projects, so that I could print images that I’d like to use. It works great! I attach it to a sheet of regular copy paper (textured side of the rice paper against the copy paper) with a little glue stick all around the edges, trim the rice paper to size, then put it in my ink jet tray. I choose light/recycled paper with maximum dpi. It prints on the smooth side of the rice paper and the images are crisp, clean and bright. The bits that I trim off can be used to decoupage a textured, translucent effect on bottles or glass plates. I’ll definitely purchase again once I run out.
Top Critical Review
I thought this would be a fun paper to write letters on or use to practice botanical watercoloring. This stuff bleeds like it’s in a horror movie. It’s light and thin and probably would be good for collage or some other project. It has 2 sides. One is smooth and one is slightly rougher. I can’t make either work for me. Supposedly it’s good for watercolor marbling or that watercolor technique with the crinkled paper. Those really are not my style so this was terribly useless for me. I use it for color swatches but that’s really it. If you’re thinking about trying something new for calligraphy or watercolor, go elsewhere. Newsprint was fun. Rice paper, not so much. I wish it would be clearer on the package.
Customer Questions & Answers
Do you need to use Chinese watercolour paints with this paper? I tried normal watercolours and the paper crincles a lot.
Answer: This is rice paper, not watercolor paper. It’s good for printmaking, but if you like to paint in watercolors, you should buy watercolor paper. This paper will always crinkle when you get it wet. Hope this helps.
Can this be used for decoupage?
Answer: Hello, D. Brown! Yes, this rice paper can be used for decoupage.
Could this be used to replace rice paper in a lamp? It needs to be sheer but thick, and not burn.
Answer: It??s very light weight paper. Great for gelli printing and other printing. See if there are other weights available? It??s a quality product. Maybe you could back the rice paper with a fuseable backing, but I would have no idea about the flamibility.
